the monolith

the monolith
here comes the monolith, all brass knuckles for the hissy fit, an abbreviation for the landing of fleets in-in-in-incoming
i've already posted a couple of photos of different buildings designed by the swiss architects herzog and de meuron, and here is another from their hometown of basel called the signal box. they have hundreds of other creations all over the world, one of their most famous is probably the bird's nest stadium in beijing. i'd really like to see more of their designs in london, and after looking online i discovered that they were responsible for the tate modern at the end of last century. however that was more of a conversion than creation as it was on the site of bankside power station, which isn't the most iconic power station in the city. further clicking online revealed that they are in the process of adding to that building with a much cooler development, so i'm looking forward to photographing that in a few years.
