chasing tail
i remember working on a photo with these creatures shortly after i took the original shots when i was in the beautiful torres del paine a few years ago. i wasn't sure about it, and my suspicions were confirmed when my mate told me it wasn't one of my best - although he used less diplomatic language. i was looking back over some of those photos the other day and this one jumped out as being far superior to my previous choice. it's strange that i overlooked it at the time, and has worrying implications of what else i might have missed in the tens of thousands of other shots i took in south america. incidentally i assumed that these were llamas but i had a faint recollection that i was told they were a called something different. after a little googling it turns out that they're actually called guanacos, and after a little more googling it turns out that guanacos are basically wild llamas. so i'd say that was a fair assumption.
