we're alive for the first time

we're alive for the first time
it's hard to remember, it's hard to remember, we're alive for the first time... it's hard to remember, it's hard to remember, we're alive for the last time... it's hard to remember, it's hard to remember, to live before you die...
this was the probably my first spectacular view during my travels around south america, when i went to visit the cristo redentor statue in rio. it was a really cloudy and misty day, and as a result i didn't really get any good shots of the statue itself. in fact the only photo i've posted from up there was of some electricity pylons... but y'know, pretty pylons. you could argue that the main reason to go up there isn't to get a good view of jesus, but to get a good look at jesus' view of the city below. unfortunately this vista was also hard to make out through the rising mist and passing clouds and all of my shots reflected this muted display. four years on i thought i'd revisit the rejected images to see if it was possible to extract some beauty from them. i'll let you judge whether i succeeded or not, but i am certain that there is no way i would have been able to produce an image like this back in 2010, which i guess is a form of progress.
