the future is coming on
this is another shot i took on new years eve from embankment in london, and one of the first times i thought the shard looked really magnificent. it also validated my decision to bring a tripod which i soon realised was useless during the actual fireworks due to the huge crowd. my initial plans were to head down to the river just after 11 to soak in the atmosphere and watch the show, however when i finally looked at the tickets i realised that entry was only allowed between 7 - 9:30pm. as a result i spent 4 hours standing around while huge speakers assaulted my ears with chart music that left me confused me about the state of the charts and the loose definition of the term music. the wait was made somewhat tolerable by a bottle of whiskey i brought with me, and paid off with the beautiful lights which were exploding and shining from the buildings around the city as the new year was dawning.
