waiting for the world to come along
i was encouraged to visit essaouira by a friend at work who loves kitesurfing. it seemed like a good opportunity to try it out, so i took a couple of lessons on this beach. the first involved sitting on the sand and learning how to control the kite. the second lesson you move into the water to practice something called body dragging. it kind of explains itself, you hold onto the kite and are dragged across the water. it was fun, although as this beach is also good for regular surfing, there were a frequent influx of waves which made things a bit more tricky. the third lesson is when you get on the board in the water, but unfortunately i ran out of time and had to catch a bus out of town instead. but since i endured the body dragging i feel like i kinda have to complete my course and take the final step.
