as we were sitting on blackpool promenade enjoying having our first alcoholic beverage of the day, we were approached by a girl selling wristbands. she assured us that without these wristbands we'd be in for an expensive night, however with them we'd be able to get in to places for free, jump straight to the front of any queue and be showered with free drinks when we entered. i think the laughter and shake of the head that we were greeted with by most bouncers proved that it was a poor purchase. the only free drinks that we were presented with were sickly, sugary shots that no one in their right mind would pay for. i think we may have got a reduction in the entry fee to this place, the syndicate, however we certainly had to queue. actually that ended up being quite entertaining as there was a girl in front of us who was asked for id. she handed over a passport and the bouncer eyed her, and it, with suspicion. he asked what her name was, which she correctly (and over-enthusiastically) answered. she was then asked how to spell her name and within sixty seconds it seemed like she'd gone through every letter in the alphabet, in every plausible order, yet still got it wrong. the bouncer handed her passport back and told her she wasn't coming in. she skulked off, before returning a few minutes later with delayed anger over the decision. she claimed that she had responded correctly, and then tried to prove it by reciting the correct spelling of her name, presumably after studying it for the previous two minutes. yet the funny thing was that she still managed to get it wrong. i think if you're underage, and you've got a fake passport with a photo that looks nothing like you, and you can't remember the name of the person you're supposed to be, and you can't even keep five letters inside your head seconds after memorising it, then yeah - you probably shouldn't be allowed inside to carry on drinking.

i realise that story would have been better if i'd remembered her name, but i was completely rat-arsed at that point. i barely remember taking this picture, and i'm fairly impressed i managed to take it without it being a blurry mess. which would have been more in tune with my vision at the time.
