more peace of mind than you ever shall find - extra image
i spent three days of my borneo trip in and around mabul island and it was my absolute favourite place. my sole reason for visiting was for the scuba diving on offer, but as with all the best places, what elevated it to special status were the people. when i wasn't underwater i explored the island and discovered it was inhabited by the happiest kids i've ever seen. literally every single one of them were smiling and playing together. whether it was football, basketball, jump rope, swinging or pushing a tyre with a stick they did it all with a pure, innocent and infectious joy. it felt like some kind of fairytale with a magical island, and reminded me why i love travelling.
