little planet cusco - extra image
it's been a while since i've had a go at a little planet photo - and i'm not really sure why - as i think the effect is pretty cool. as i had already photographed the plaza de armas when i was in cusco a couple of years ago i thought i should try something a bit different. i've linked to instructions of how to achieve this effect before - but that was over 3 years ago - so here they are again:
here's a larger version
- create a 360 degree panoramic image - there's plenty of software available for this - i find PTGui particularly effective
- open this image in photoshop, and change the image size so that the height is the same as the width, which will give you a distorted square image
- rotate the image 180 degrees
- choose filter / distort / polar coordinates and select rectangular to polar
- that's it
