tell me your own politik
a couple of nights ago i went out for a meal in a local bolivian restaurant with an israeli, a kiwi and a swiss - that last one doesn't read quite right. anyways we started talking politics, more specifically israeli politics, even more specifically about the flotilla incident which happened last year. what made this debate particularly entertaining for me were the characters involved. the kiwi guy was loud, the swiss girl was loquacious and the israeli guy was stubborn. i'm not sure what adjective they would describe me as - but as i was a little ignorant of the details i was keen to listen to each version of events before chipping in. the israeli guy was, perhaps unsurprisingly, adamant that israel were 100% in the right. the kiwi guy largely concurred. the swiss girl did not. after hearing the different arguments i tended to side more with her - particularly when it was revealed that the flotilla wasn't in israeli waters. at the very least i thought it fair to state that the issue wasn't black and white - a point that the dogmatic israeli guy vehemently denied. sample quote: oh my god, are you fucking serious, it's absolutely black and white. so often traveller's conversations consist of 'have you been to this beach/waterfall/mountain?' it was refreshing to deviate from the standard script. i have my doubts whether the others would concur - but i got a kick out of the heated banter.
this has nothing to do with the photo, but it's my photoblog and i make the rules. for a change i didn't crop this shot and did all of the processing in lightroom. here's the original
