a reflection of something we're missing

a reflection of something we're missing
the day you accept all you see is a mirror and a mirror is all it can be - a reflection of something we're missing
so as i mentioned yesterday i've implemented a few updates to the site - the biggest of which is the ability to now purchase printed copies of the photos i post. i had a couple of enquiries about it and thought it would be worth looking into - however i think i underestimated how big a job it was to do. this is mainly because i don't keep, or even create, high resolution versions of the images i put up. instead i have the original photo, and then a screen size photoshop file with all of the edits on different layers. this means that i can replicate these changes at a higher resolution if needed. the time it takes to do this depends on how much i've processed the image, and also how much my computer wants to misbehave. i've worked through almost all of the images i've put up in 2011 - which is around 180. i still have about 60 to go until i'm up to date with all of my south american photos. offering print versions of photos older than this (pre september 2010) is difficult as the original files are at home - and i'm a long way from home. if there are any that you are interested in which don't have a buy image link then let me know and i'll see what i can sort out. the photo printing is taken care of by fotomoto which seems to be a popular printhouse with a lot of photobloggers. they ship internationally, package securely and most importantly the print quality is very high. i've also got the print versions uploaded (man now that took a while) which means i could be stuck in a jungle for weeks offline and you can still get your prints. think i've covered everything - all i'm missing now is some customers *cough*

here's the original
Talented Tim, nice enhancements to the site. I have one request. I think some of your fans might agree with me when I say that there are too many stellar pics to choose from and purchase. Yes, some folks may only want one or two and they'll buy it as such, but what some of us would really like is a collection of your photos. So, will you consider making a photo book of your South American trip after you've returned home? Testmeat, first edition – a book that you design that contains the pictures (with caption) that you like best. I promise I'll buy one as long as it's not full of monkey pics. OK, make it two requests.

i was thinking about doing something like that, and maybe not even waiting til i go home. i can't make any promises about the primate bias though. actually maybe i should do a dedicated monkey book as well...
