living under glass
well yesterdays post was a little on the moany side huh? i felt like lamenting my bad luck, although after seeing it all written down it seemed like most of my misfortune was more mistakes by me as opposed to things out of my control. and upon reflection, whilst it was a miserable day it could have been worse, i could have died. i know that sounds like a clichéd platitude, but there's a grain of reality to it. when i was getting lost on the way to a mystical lake a bus was travelling the same route that i had taken the previous day got caught in a landslide resulting in over 20 people injured and 10 deaths. i found out about this as i departed the next day, and we passed the remains of the ill-fated bus. i was surprised the death toll was so low after witnessing the wreckage remains. speaking to some of my fellow passengers i found out this kind of incident occurred casi siempre which means almost all the time - not what you want to hear when you still have over 5 hours left on the journey. at least it put me feeling hungry, getting lost and falling in some mud into perspective. i resisted the urge to get my camera out, i'm not sure about the etiquete in passing a scene of a major accident, but i'm pretty sure it would have been disrespectful. plus i didn't have a window seat... but y'know mainly i was showing respect.
