between september 2010 and october 2012 i only left the continent of south america twice. once was when i popped over to cuba and the other time was when i came back to england for my sister's wedding. well that was the pretence of my return - in reality i was just craving a full english breakfast. even though the plate was missing hash browns, which i'd normally consider an unforgivable omission, it still tasted glorious. unfortunately it was 2 years ago today when i ate this breakfast, which means it was followed by a 22 month period of abstinence. these cravings became particularly distressing in colombia where the traditional morning meal usually consisted of arepas - a food which managed the impressive feat of both tasting of nothing and tasting disgusting. they were trying times to be sure, but i came through them with stronger self control and a skinnier body - two attributes which are rapidly regressing now i'm back in england.
