just too bad they stare
you could be forgiven in thinking that, based on my photographic evidence, the island of mucura was solely inhabited by kids. well it wasn't some kind of lord of the flies retreat, it was just that the children seemed far more friendly and sociable than the older natives. that was partly down to me, as one of the biggest barriers i had with the adults on the island was that they spoke spanish with a near incomprehensible accent. it appeared as though they could understand me ok, but i had real trouble converting the words they spoke into spanish i could recognise, let alone into english. it was frustrating as i was getting to the point where my spanish was at a decent standard, yet each word i heard was just an unknown noise. i imagine that's what it's like if a foreigner learns english and then visits liverpool.
