last week was the first time i've been to see arsenal play since i came back to england. in fact the last game i went to was almost 3 years ago when i saw a thrilling draw against barcelona. i've seen plenty of matches between then and now on television - or more accuratley my computer - and the first thing i was struck by was how different everything looks when you see it live. you get a real overview of the game and you can really see which players are pulling their weight and which ones are slacking off. of course i knew this already but it took a while for me to adjust to the live viewing experience. once i did everything became very familiar, even down to our signature move of a defensive lapse followed up by conceding a goal against the run of play. fortunately we weren't playing barcelona this time so we eventually found a winner a few minutes from the end and had the dubious satisfaction of scraping past relegation-battling villa 2-1. some things really do just stay the same.
