nothing left to say
when i was in ecuador i met two guys who i ended up travelling with for the best part of five months. we all finished our south american trip at different times, flying to different destinations, but promised to meet up again in the future. a little over twelve months later we finally had our reunion in krakow, poland. we each had different stories from our time in south america, as well as what we got up to after we last saw each other, and we easily slipped into our old dynamic of being slightly silly and pissing around. the reason i mention this in relation to this photo from the entrance to auschwitz is because we arrived here the day after we met up we spent and spent the following few hours in almost complete silence. it was such an affecting experience that it wasn't that i didn't think of anything appropriate to say, i just couldn't think of anything else apart from the horrors of what went on within the barbed wire enclosure. it was a fascinating, exhausting, scary, depressing and enlightening place which i think as many humans as possible should experience.
