this table of art materials belonged to salvador dali and made up part of the museum which was created at his former residence at port lligat in cadaquƩs, spain. i wanted to try something 'arty' with the processing and ended up spending longer than usual messing around with the photo, enhancing colours and adding texture. normally at this point i'd direct you towards the original image so you can compare, contrast, judge, whatever - however this time i thought i'd try something different. so i created a little video of the various stages i went through from original capture to final creation, which resulted in a somewhat simplified and greatly truncated 20 second clip. if it works i'd like to try some more of them in the future - although it's probably only worth it for those images that i piss about with for ages. with that sentiment in mind it seemed appropriate to take the title of this photo from the
daniel johnston song
story of an artist - an ode for anyone who's ever tried to do something creative. if you're unfamiliar with daniel's style then here's a
cover version of that song by m ward which is easier on the ears. actually i just realised the irony in linking to that version considering the content of the song - plus the lyric in question is omitted - so here's the
original which you can compare, contrast, judge, whatever.

video version
