paint the black hole blacker
when you see a magic trick do you want to know how it was done or would the revelation end up diminishing the wonder you felt? i saw a david blaine trick the other day where he asked harrison ford to think of a card, made it disappear before he revealed that it was inside an orange. it was pretty neat. although the fact that there may have been 51 other cards hidden in various other perishables dotted around the kitchen probably makes it less magical. does that knowledge lessen your initial appreciation? i don't know. when you first look at this photo you may well think it has a solar eclipse, interplanetary quality to it. if you look a bit more, and then deduce from the exif data that i took it at a couple of days ago at 1:30pm, well that would suggest it's not as astronomically impressive as you first thought. does that lessen your initial appreciation? yeah, probably. it's not a very good comparison.
