laid back
i'm normally pretty good at remembering the names of the places i visited in south america, which is impressive for me as there were quite a lot and i have a shocking memory. however i completely forgot about this little town until i was flicking through some of the photos i took there. it was somewhere between manizales and medellin, although google maps reveals quite a few unfamiliar names in between, so i had to do a bit more detective work. another photo i'd taken had the sign instituto fco javier mejia, which i appended with the word colombia, googled and discovered a blog with familiar looking pictures. scanning the spanish text the name salamina stood out to me, so i returned to google maps, switched to street view and i was instantly taken back to the colourful houses, steep streets and beautiful surrounding countryside. the trip was based on a random recommendation in manizales, and while it may not have stuck in my memory as tightly as other colombian destinations, it was cute little town.
i did a little extending and cloning to get the framing i wanted on this one - here's the original
