so it's that time of the month where i start making excuses for my lack of regular posts, and this month i'm unashamedly blaming the world cup. with 3 or 4 games every day i've found it a struggle to focus on my regular work let alone photography. another consequence of consuming so much football from the other side of the world is that i've really started to miss brazil, so i thought it would be appropriate to dig into my archives and pull out a brazilian football photo. this is from the same set as my beach soccer photo, this time i combined 4 shots and chose to saturate instead of desaturate the colours. another focus of my attention the last few weeks has been my biennial foray into the world of gambling. i do this whenever there's a european championship or world cup, and 4 years ago i did well enough to buy a new camera with my profits. in fact the same camera i used to take this picture... and which i subsequently lost on a beach in colombia. during the last fortnight i've been up and down, and there's still time for me to make or (more likely) lose money, but if i make enough to purchase a replacement i'll be more than happy. or i could spend my winnings towards another trip to south america. capitalistic motives aside i've really been enjoying the football and i'm looking forward to this afternoon's game between brazil and chile. i'd love to be there and experience it in the host country, but instead i'm settling for a brazilian bar in east london.
