here i dreamt i was an architect
when most people think about spiders they probably think of scary, ugly creatures which invade your home before you trap them under a cup and take them outside. it's a pretty unfortunate reputation when really they should be marketed as awesome architects. not only do they design and construct these intricate patterns, but they manufacture all of their building materials from inside their own body. and what they create are literally deathtraps, which they are able to navigate safely. it's super crazy when you think about it, and crazy impressive too. it almost makes me feel bad for setting a couple of the load-bearing threads alight and watching this structure collapse into the plants. but in my defence the web was attached to my washing line, and mr spider did not seek the relevant planning permission for that extension. plus the sun was out and i had clothes that needed drying.
