it's a hollow play
i've already written about how this zoo in buenos aires was amongst the most depressing places i visited in south america. it was a place i tried to forget as soon as i left, however i was reminded about it last night when i clicked on a link which read court in argentina rules orangutan is not a 'thing' but a 'person' and grants her some human rights. it reports that lawyers successfully argued that sandra the orangutan was being deprived her freedom in the argentinian zoo and instead she'll be transferred to a primate sanctuary in brazil. as someone who abhors that animal prison in buenos aires, and also has big love for animal sanctuaries, this news story made me very happy.
