a gift to the city
there were 50 of these brightly painted pianos in various parks and public spaces all over new york city. i think it's a really cool initiative, particularly as pianos are so cumbersome compared to other instruments that i'm sure there are plenty of amateur pianists who don't get to play as much as they'd like. i was also thinking it must be pretty awesome to play music in locations with stunning views such as this. then again, depending on the height of the pianist, i guess you'd miss the manhattan skyline and just be staring at a big block of painted wood. still, it's very cool for the spectators.
