i guess this is the good life
last night i went to see the good life play for the first time in the borderline in soho. they're one of those bands who i really like, yet i haven't heard that much of their output. i first listened to their album black out and thought it was amazing so had it on heavy rotation. i liked it so much that i was afraid to listen to their other albums in case they wouldn't compare. when i finally got around to listening to their follow up album of the year i realised there was nothing to be worried about - it was just as good as it's predecessor. in fact that album begins with my all-time favourite opening line: "the first time that i met her i was throwing up in the ladies room stalls". despite (or because of) this affection i still haven't listened to any of their other three albums. it's the same dumb reasoning - what if the other records aren't as good. seeing them play a short but awesome set in london has helped me realise that the potential rewards will really outweigh the complete absence of risk.
