my colleague and i made it to camps bay just as the sun was setting and stayed into the twilight as the stars began to make themselves seen. i would have liked to have stayed a bit longer to get some more star photos, however we had plans to meet some friends for dinner and drinks. whilst we were drinking outside the bar i saw a man who looked exactly like daniel radcliffe. so i approached him and said "excuse me, are you daniel radcliffe?". he replied "yes" with a confidence you'd expect from someone who is aware of his own name. this answer through me off, i wasn't sure what i expected but i was unprepared for any form of conversation so i left a few seconds of awkward silence before stumbling with "oh... cool... my name is tim". an exchange followed where i discovered he was in town filming a grand theft auto movie - which excited me no end - but came to an abrupt stop when he said "well, it was nice to meet you mate". i remember thinking, huh, that's the most courteous way i've ever experienced someone say "fuck off i don't want to speak to you anymore". so he went back to talking to his colleagues, and i went back to mine and told them all what a polite young man he was.
