older than we are
when i flew home from cape town i didn't stop in london, but continued north to manchester by air, and then to the lake district by rail and road. it was a pretty tiring journey, but the destination made it worthwhile. lately i've only really visited the lake district in winter time, so i'm used to it being pretty cold, dark and/or wet. that and the unpredictable british weather meant it had been quite a while since i'd seen it blooming in springtime. maybe it was the contrast to the vistas i'd seen in the previous weeks, but the landscapes seemed as beautiful as anything i'd seen in africa.
