pushing forward
before i went to belize in the summer i only really knew one thing about the place - that it has a great blue hole. that's a huge sinkhole which is out in the ocean where you can go scuba diving. it's been just over 10 years since i first went scuba diving but also over 4 years since i last went. and this dive was to be the deepest i'd ever been. i booked it as soon as i arrived in the country, however adverse weather conditions meant i had to wait a couple of days. when i finally got out there the dive instructor said that once we jumped in we only had a few minutes to get to our maximum depth, and if we weren't able to keep up we'd have to resurface. i guess cos i was out of practice i started to panic a little as my ears couldn't handle the fast descent. i wasn't concerned about my health, i just didn't want to miss out. fortunately i was able to get it under control and ended up hanging out with the sharks at over 40 metres below the surface. it was an awesome, spooky, unique experience.
