you disappoint me
when the uk voted to brexit the european union i stayed up all night to watch the election results come in. i ended up drifting in and out of sleep with the tv on in the background, waking to ever more depressing news about the likely result. it was with an obvious sense of deja vu that i pretty much repeated the same experience on tuesday night. starting with the pundits who spoke so confidently at the result swinging to clinton and the gradual realisation that trump is to become the most powerful man in the world. familiar emotions started bubbling up again, anger, confusion, despair, disappointment; like it's simultaneously a big backwards step for the human race and a big forwards step down a dangerous path.
