orchestrated from above
before i went to victoria falls i made a point of not looking at any photos of it, so that the first time i saw it was when i hovered above it in a helicopter. to be honest i was a little disappointed. i think it was partly because i didn't know how it would look, and in my head i thought it would be a big open facing waterfall like angel or kaieteur falls. as you can see it actually has cliffs wrapped around it so you can only really see inside from a certain angle. the visibility wasn't helped by going at the wettest time of the year so clouds of mist were obscuring the falls themselves. i don't regret taking the trip, it's only the second time i'd been in a helicopter, but i couldn't deny being a bit underwhelmed by what i had hoped to see. thankfully after i landed i went walking along the edge of the cliffs and up close my eyes were far more satisfied with what they saw.
