may all your days be gold my child
we have one pretty strict rule when it comes to work trips, and that's to not be late for the morning meetings. it can be tough when you work such long days and have so little sleep, but it applies to everyone. the morning after by birthday i woke up in cape town after four hours sleep to this beautiful, golden sight. i managed to spend a few minutes taking it in (and some photos) from the apartment balcony before heading downstairs to take a taxi. when we were on the street about to jump in we heard a cry from a different balcony. we looked up to see our colleague brushing his teeth in his pants imploring us to wait for him. turns out he'd misjudged the timing of the meeting by 30 minutes, which we learnt when we saw him skulk into the office 35 minutes later.
