the way and the wall
this is my first photo from my trip to borneo almost two months ago... so let me start at the beginning. the morning after i arrived on the island i flew to a small village called mulu, famous for its big caves. this is the biggest of them, in fact the largest cave passage in the world, called deer cave. i had to walk a few km from the hq to the entrance, then walk, scramble and hop from rocks to get to the other side. there was then another walk through what's called the garden of eden before getting to a waterfall in the jungle. we stopped there for lunch and a dip, but as i took off my shoes and went in the water a rock went through my foot. i had to hobble the entire reverse journey before being driven from the hq to the village clinic. they said the wound was to messy to stitch, and that they'd have to recut it to stitch it properly. they were reluctant to do this as there was no power in the clinic, and they were treating me using the light from a phone. i concurred with their assessment. so began the saga of my bornean right foot.
