the supposed golden path
last week i arrived back in london from australia, and two days later i found myself back at the airport. everyone in the office was told to meet there at 7am and await further instructions. we were all given a boarding pass to rome, and when we arrived in italy we took a four hour coach ride east to a small medieval village called petritoli. we spent the next few days there on a company retreat. the first time we did one of these we camped in wales, and the following year involved camping in norfolk, so it was definitely an upgrade taking over a village in italy. despite jet lag tiring me out, i still woke up early each morning to see the sun rise over the surrounding hills with a delicious cup of italian coffee. i'd like it if work could arrange this kind of transition after every holiday i take.
