it's a bedroom day
the past week i've been dogsitting aba, my friend's three year old patterdale terrier. last year i took her in for a weekend, and this time around it was a full week. on both occasions i thought that she would struggle with being in an unfamiliar place with a relatively unknown human, but she's really adaptable and got on with it great. she's a very affectionate dog who always wants to follow and be in contact with you, which is adorable and low-key exhausting in unequal measures. for example in the evening i'd lie on the sofa with a blanket and she would burrow underneath and curl up between my legs to snooze. so if i wanted to get up and get a drink i had to perform an awkward acrobatic manoeuvre where i would stealthily extract my legs from under the blanket and then carefully rise from the sofa, all without disturbing this small, ticking cute bomb. over the course of the week my success rate was probably around 50%, but to be honest when she did wake up it usually resulted in a few minutes of strokes and cuddles before she returned to her sleepy position, so you can't really classify that as a failure.
