when the beat drops
my last post of my friend's dog aba gave the impression that she was a very chilled out animal, content to laze on the sofa. while that's accurate, she also demanded a lot of exercise, and her behaviour shifted greatly whenever a ball came out. she became laser focussed on gaining possession and once she captured the ball she was extremely reluctant to cede control. if you add a squeak to said ball then it was like i was throwing a fist full of crack, she became relentless. i learned this when i took her on her first walk and another dog was playing with a squeaky ball. she grabbed it within seconds of hearing the seductive sound and i spent over twenty futile minutes failing to retrieve it from her. by the time i finally did the original owner had long since given up and left the park and i was exhausted.
