i took this photo over a year ago when i was up in northumberland, and it's taken me until now to process it. my wide angle lens wasn't focussing correctly at the time so i used my 35mm and took a bunch of shots which i intended to stitch together into a panorama. but a lack of disk space and memory made that task impossible when i returned from the trip, so the files remained untouched on my computer. when i eventually got around to it i discovered that i didn't really like the wider stitched version. sure there were far more stars in the sky, which was my thinking when i took the photos, but it also resulted in the hay bales shrinking away and the composition just didn't look balanced. so i discarded all of the outer images and just used the one in the middle, which i could easily have done 12 months ago. like with most tasks that you put off because they seem too tough and daunting, it ended up being much more simple than i'd built up in my head. i doubt there's any lesson to learn from that though.

actually i used two photos to create this, as i did a little focus stacking to get more sharpness across the image, here's one of the originals
