it's in your heart now
i left goa on an overnight bus and arrived super early the following morning in hampi, or more specifically the village of hanumanahalli, in the state of karnataka. hampi had been recommended by a number of people, but i spent my first few days there inside with a fairly big work project. i met up with a travel friend after making progress on my work and went for a walk to discover exactly where it was i’d been staying... turns out it was paradise. the landscape was stunning, trees reflected in water logged rice fields surrounded by huge red boulders that looked like they had been casually scattered on top of each other. there was also an abundance of temples dotted around, as well as monkeys, peacocks and even a few bears roaming freely. the people in the village were very friendly and welcoming, and the food was amazing with so many dishes i'd never tried before. i ended up staying another 10 days after this walk, eventually upgrading my feet to a scooter so i could explore a lot more of the surroundings. i wanted to stay even longer however work commitments and a lack of accommodation availability meant that i needed to retreat with my laptop to a new office, but it was a special place that really captured my heart.
