when i had a go flying my friend's drone on koh tao she also mentioned that she had brought a light stick to thailand. at least i think that's what it's called, we kept referring to it as a lightsaber which felt like a more appropriate name. while we both understood the basic idea behind painting with light, you set up a long exposure and then move the light within the frame, we also had no real idea what we were doing. so we went to a beach a did a bit of trial and error, with different settings, poses and movements. the trick is for the subject to try and hold the pose as still as possible, while the person holding the light should be moving enough so that they don't appear in the photo. with our cameras positioned on the beach i set mine to take a series of 20 second exposures and we would both then scramble onto the rock and take it in turns to paint each other. it's a really fun type of photography, particularly because you have no idea exactly what you will capture until you hop back onto the beach and have a look.

this was my favourite from the night, but it also compliments well with this one where i was posing
