lifeguard

this is a rare sight, particularly on sardinia bay beach in south africa, it's a lifeguard who's actually moving about. seriously, all they seemed to do all day was catch some rays and sleep on the beach, occasionally interupting their careful routine for a cigarette. at one point a smack of jellyfish (yeah that's the right expression - i looked it up) appeared close to the shore and kids started splashing towards them. yet still no response from the men in yellow. the lazy blonde bastards.

I think the Sadinia Bay lifeguards are brilliant. In SA jellyfish is not poisonous so why bather the kids playing. The wernt herting it either. Those lifeguards but their lives at risk as SARDS is 1 of the most dangerous beaches in the country. Plus look how mellow that day was, even if you try to drown it would be impossible

The guy in the photo is probably the best lifeguard you'll ever come across. I've know him for 8 years through life saving. Besides him being titled as the fastest beach sprinter, SA National Champs, this man can rescue in killer surf. Yes, I'm a Sardinia Bay lifeguard. This is not a nanny state, we haven't had a drowning as far as I can remember on our beach. Our beach is rated as one of the top 5 most dangerous beaches in SA. Note that this is also probably voluntary duty. Or you get paid, 13 pounds a day, if you work for the council.
