bird tones
this is our ranger on safari, jonty, who i thought was great. as well as being friendly, a good driver and most importantly good at spotting animals, he was also really knowledgeable. he'd come out with loads of interesting facts, most of which i've since forgotten but i remember being impressed at the time. this extended to the large number of birds on the reserve, and when i took this we had just stopped behind a bird walking along the path. to try and entice it closer jonty turned to his phone, picked out the specific mating call of the bird and played it on loud speaker. i don't think the bird was in the mood as the seduction was unsuccessful. i suppose you just can't impress birds with your mobile phones these days.
