termite mound
there were loads of these mounds dotted around amakhala which turned our to be termite mounds. a couple of interesting facts that i do remember from jonty, termite mounds are similar to icebergs in so much that the part of it you can see above ground is only a small percentage of the overall structure that stretches deep down below. and apparently for termites to build a mound the size of a fist, takes about five years. so this must have taken frickin ages.
