the robbing bastards
i was fast asleep on monday night when my girlfriend woke me up to say that there was a noise downstairs. i was a bit dozy and sceptical but got up, looked out the window and looked around. i couldn't really see anything, and all i heard was a faint sound outside the window that could have just been a neighbours cat. however my girlfriend was adamant that it was someone trying to get in and insisted on calling the police. not for the first time her judgement proved to be spot on as when they arrived we looked round the back to see our gate open and our lock in this condition. the next day the police would find a screwdriver at the end of our garden and footprints in next doors. they had tried to force open the lock, i suspect to get their hand on the car keys that were invitingly dangling on the other side of the lock for a brand new vw golf. they must have been interrupted when we woke up so luckily this was as far as they got. a harsh lesson, expensive locksmith and trip to b and q swiftly followed - i'll be ready for the fuckers next time.
