this curious creature is an indri, and it's all levels of awesome. it's the largest living lemur in the world reaching almost 120cm with fully extended legs. it only inhabits a small sliver of eastern madagascar, in fact all attempts to keep and breed the indri in captivity have failed. it lives in small family groups and is monogamous, only looking for a new partner after the death of a mate. they communicate with each other (and other groups) with loud and intense roars, which i was lucky enough to witness first hand. and it goes with out saying they're super cute... i had to muster all my restraint to not embrace this one when it crawled down the tree to say hello.
