i stayed in a few different places in jaipur, including an airbnb which was in the muslim district of ramganj bazar. i had access to the rooftop of my building, which ordinarily was a bit too hot to fully enjoy. however as the afternoon grew on i spotted kids climbing to the tops of their respective buildings to start flying kites. before long it looked like the sky was full of intoxicated birds as they zipped and flew in jerky patterns. i've since learned that there's a big kite festival in jaipur called makar sankranti where there are countless more kites in the sky, including those engaging in kite fighting. this festival is held in january, and as i took this a couple months before i like to think that it's all training to prepare for the big event
