manta ray - extra image
after the final day diving we were heading back to the shore when we saw a bunch of people rush over to the edge of a jetty. there were loads of swimmers and snorkellers scrambling around about something so our captain steered the boat closer. one of the guides started scanning the water, saw a fin and shouted "shark!". then he looked a little closer and shouted "dolphin!" before finally settling on "manta ray!". it was third time lucky as this huge creature glided around the bay before swimming right up and past our boat, leaving a trail of snorkellers desperate to keep up with it. pretty cool for the last sighting of the holiday.
