so this was taken about an hour after we descended from the hole in the wall, heading towards glenridding on a walk in the lakes. trouble was we weren't parked in glenridding so it was probably a good hour again before we got back to the car. the second half of the walk was almost exclusivley downhill so in theory it should have been easier. it's weird how it doesn't seem to work like that. sure, i was stopping and getting out of breath less, but my knees and shins were bloody killing. i blame this on having my shitty trainers that had slippery soles with about as much grip as a palsy hand. my other trainers got trashed on the bike ride the day before, not that they're really much better, so i felt every step on the way down. the next day i woke up with shin splints, which i think are related to the fact that my feet are as flat as a pancake, so i was doomed from the start. damn you exercise, if you not going to meet me halfway then i just won't bother.
