the sentinel
about 20 months ago i wrote about the great photo website 500px and how it was my mission to appear on their coveted editor's choice page, which is a small selection of their favourite images. a few months after that i was still banging the same drum, but i was pleased that my yellow bird picture made it to the popular section - which is decided by the site visitors as opposed to the editors. while i liked that yellow bird photo, at the time i noted that it was another bird shot which was my personal favourite from my galapagos trip. in the subsequent months i kept on adding photos to the site yet there was still no recognition from the allusive editors... that was until this afternoon. i received an email telling me that i had been selected - and the photo the editors chose was... my favourite bird photo from the galapagos. that made me doubly satisfied, not only had i completed my aim of being noticed in a photogenic crowd, but my taste in birds was validated as well! i realise this is a particularly self-aggrandising post - but i hope you'll indulge me as it was over 2 years in the waiting
