you'll be reunited on the other side
since the world cup started a few weeks ago i've tried to catch as many games as possible. at the peak of the group stage that would be around 8 hours a day, beginning with the 5pm kick off and ending with the 11pm match. my daily routine would therefore consist of working at my desk until 4:30pm and then moving to in front of the tv with my laptop. it was pretty challenging to divide my attention between the 2 screens - even more so when you take into account the in-play betting i was involved with. so the 2 day break which began yesterday wasn't as punishing as i initially feared. i've had time to see my housemates, go to the shops and i even cooked myself dinner for the first time in 3 weeks. i also went back to look through my archive of brazilian photos and found this image from when i visited the pantanal. the thing is, i can only enjoy this break with the knowledge that football will resume tomorrow. i'm not looking forward to the post-world cup blues when there's a month before the new season begins and no football in between. having said that at least i will be able to get some fresh air and start to eat a lot healthier.
