sending smoke signals
i took this in a cenote on my penultimate day in mexico a couple of years ago. it was on my way to visit chicen itza, which as i've said before, was part of an organised tour group. so while on the surface it looks cool to descend to an underground watery cave and see locals playing traditional music, there was something about it that felt very fake and antithetical to how i like to travel. but despite those feelings, i do like this photo i took, particularly how he was lit by a small hole in the top of the cave which let a strong beam of sunlight through.
