while you wait on the answers
much to my delight there's been multiple occasions where i've seen monkeys while travelling around india. my first encounter was not long after i arrived in mumbai, where they were guarding a set of caves on a nearby island. later on they would scamper around the village where i stayed in hampi, and i have a fond memory of watching the sunset with them by a temple on top of a mountain. i met this dude up in a different set of mountains, close to the border between kerala and tamil nadu. along with the rest of his troop, he would hang out in the trees and bushes which lined a path that humans would walk down, waiting for an opportunity. of course being a monkey that opportunity was always food related, and being india almost everyone is either cooking or eating food at any given moment, so they didn't have to wait too long.
