two really cool things about kanyakumari, the night's were fairly clear so i was able to see stars in the sky for the first time in while. also, and more unique to this particular location, off the southern point of india there's a huge 133 foot statue in the ocean. to be more specific it's actually the point where two seas and an ocean meet, the bay of bengal, arabian sea and indian ocean. the statue itself is of thiruvalluvar who was a poet and philosopher, there's not so much accurate information about him but he was responsible for writing the tirukkuṟaḷ, an ancient and lauded tamil work on dharma and morality. one less cool thing about kanyakumari, i was still suffering from the effects of delhi belly while i was there so not eating a lot and taking all too frequent trips to the toilet. but i was adamant that this wouldn't prevent me from photographing those first two cool things, so i walked down to the water at night, worked out a spot where the statue would be angled due south and took a timelapse as the stars circled above valluvar's head.
