so on friday night i went to see daniel johnston play at the brudenell social club. it was the second time i've seen him, and while i preferred the first time as he was playing with a bunch of his talented friends, i think this time dan himself was far, far better. he also seemed a lot more confident and self assured which was nice to see. in addition to playing some new songs with his many old classics he threw in a few beatles covers. normally i'd put the beatles on a list of artists that you shouldn't try to cover, but i'm glad to make an exception after seeing daniel's versions. as well as the enthusiastic 'heys' in you've got to hide your love away, his rendition of come together was nothing short of fucking amazing.
